RCD Design Categories for RIBs

Few topics have created such a stir as how to assign the RCD design category for RIBs.  It is still possible to find RIBs of 5m in category B (offshore) while some 7m RIBs are only category C (inshore).  How can this be? This discrepancy will ultimately be cleared up by the all-new RCD which comes into force in January 2016 and is mandatory by January 2017. HPi Verification Services, has unveiled an advanced EU Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) training course. Originally written to check the knowledge of our own inspectors before going into the field, the course not only covers the general provisions of the Directive but looks deeply into each Essential Requirement. The course has 18 modules and requires approximately 10-12 hours to complete. HPiVS gets behind the RIB 4 Macmillan charity

At the Southampton Boatshow, HPiVS stumbled across the charity “RIB 4 Macmillan” which is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Members from the RIBnet forum joined forces with professionals from the marine trade to rebuild & customise an incredible 2005 Avon Searider. The RIB will be auctioned on eBay during the 2014 Southampton Boat Show and 100% of the sale price will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support. The project was largely driven by Custom RIB and Henshaw Inflatables and includes an engine donated by Rolls-Royce and a console with original dials from RYA....

Is a certificate valid after a manufacturer closes?
